The horrific side effects of late-stage capitalism in the USA are everywhere. No industry has been safe from the pressures of the modern age—to prioritize growth and profits over justice, community care, and quality of life.
Over my twenty years in the music industry, I've tried to play the game by its rules. In that time I’ve watched money and power continue to be consolidated into the hands of a select few, while truly independent artists watch their last few remaining lifelines for survival slip through their fingers. Over and over, I've watched some of my favorite artists on earth have to throw in the towel. It breaks my heart.
If you believe, like I do, that there should be a place in this world for art that is not excessively commercialized, easily marketable, or merely a front for public figures to build the brand of their own celebrity—I invite you to join me on a new adventure.
2 Heads is my attempt to build something truly independent—to create a space to house my own creative whims and the work of artists I deeply admire and who I’ve worked with as a producer, writer or instrumentalist.
But my ultimate goal is to create a space for me to collaborate directly with artists whose work inspires and touches me on a deep level, and amplify their voices.
It is a place meant to glorify the practice and the process, not the person and the ego.
A place to resist the flattening of our inner multitudes in order to become a more easily understood commodity.
A generative, self-sustaining community where art and the forces of creativity belong to everyone;
An outlet for truth, beauty, and uncompromising honesty.
